Followed by BMT & Friends running 15 to 22 December 2017.
Having premiered to acclaim at the Edinburgh Festival in 2014, where it won the Total Theatre and Jackson’s Lane Awards for Best Circus, BROMANCE went on to sell-out national and international tours. It returns for just seven UK performances at The Albany prior to opening in New York early next year. The show explores male companionship and its limits through humour, exceptional parkour skills, hand-to-hand acrobatics, Bboying, tricking, Cyr wheel and more.
BMT & Friends is a breathtaking and beautiful all circus cabaret, curated by Barely Methodical Troupe and featuring some of their most ridiculously talented friends. Join the UK’s hottest circus ensemble for a special end of year celebration featuring a superb international line-up of astounding physical performers including Belgian’s Bert and Fred who like to pay with knives; Emi Vauthey and her fabulous hoops plus Chris Thomas, Dan and Rhi Cave-Walker and Fiona Thornhill.
Barely Methodical Troupe met at the National Centre for Circus Arts when they found their diverse mix of skills offered them a unique chemistry: Louis Gift started in parkour, Beren D’Amico in martial arts tricking and Charlie Wheeller was a breakdancer. On graduation, they won the inaugural Circus Maximus competition and the Deutsche Bank Award, which enabled them to create BROMANCE and they’ve gone on to win multiple awards and widespread acclaim.
Barely Methodical Troupe’s BROMANCE runs 6 to 13 December 2017, while BMT & Friends with performances at 7.30pm. Tickets are priced £18 (early bird £14), with £23 premium tickets also including a glass of fizz and nibbles on arrival.
About The Albany
The Albany is a performing arts centre in Deptford, south-east London, with a history stretching back to the 19th century. It has three performance spaces, including a unique, flexible main space in the round, with a capacity of 500 standing and 300 seated. The Albany, a registered charity, presents and produces a range of art forms including theatre, music, spoken word, circus and outdoor arts, with audiences of over 40,000 in the last year for just over 400 events.
On behalf of Lewisham Council, the Albany manages and programmes the Deptford Lounge, a new cultural and community hub, which includes a library, galleries, and a range of community facilities shared with Tidemill School. And, on behalf of Southwark Council, the Albany manages and programmes a selection of spaces comprising a 150-seat theatre and six education and meeting spaces at Canada Water Library.
