Another post-lockdown Q&A reunion. After fascinating discussions around Feel and At Last, I’m back with Proforca Theatre company to discuss Lately, a third new play by James Lewis as well as exciting future plans for Proforca’s London home at the Lion & Unicorn Theatre.
“You’ve never been on your own, you always just thought you were…”
Cal & Alf. Callum & Alison. They were supposed to be part of each other’s lives forever, if only the universe had let things happen the way they should.
But whoever they were before, they’re different people now, and the problem with living here is that it always pulls you back again, no matter how hard you try to get away.
The universe that sent them spinning into freefall throws them together again when the girl who ran away comes back to find out what happened to the boy who didn’t want to leave.
And the question that the universe needs to answer most of all now is: Whatever happens to those bits of us we leave behind and thought we’d lost forever?
Following the 7.30pm press night performance on Thursday 9 September 2021, I’ll chair a discussion with Lately director David Brady, who is also artistic director of Proforca and the Lion & Unicorn Theatre, as well as members of the company and others involved in the forthcoming season of new work.
How are theatremakers and theatregoers feeling about the London fringe as we emerge from the dark days of Covid closure?
