First production images for ALADDIN have been released today ahead of its official opening night at the Prince Edward Theatre on Wednesday 15 June 2016. Disney’s new West End musical began preview performances on Friday 27 May and tickets for the spectacular production are now on sale for performances up to and including 11 February 2017.
The Royal Court Theatre has announced the final productions in its season marking the 60th year of the English Stage Company. Highlights for the remainder of 2016 include two major premieres by EV Crowe and Lucy Kirkwood and a new short play by Caryl Churchill, whose Escaped Alone returns in 2017 ahead of a tour and New York transfer.
After opening at Theatr Clwyd for a limited season from 21 October to 12 November 2016, RENT will go on a three-week tour, prior to a Christmas season at London’s St James Theatre from 8 December 2016 to 28 January 2017, with a national press night on Tuesday 13 December 2016. 2017 tour dates are to be announced. The new production will be directed by Bruce Guthrie.
As rehearsals start for Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre, full casting is announced. Joining Declan Bennett as Jesus are: Tyrone Huntley as Judas, with Anoushka Lucas as Mary Magdelene, David Thaxton as Pilate, Cavin Cornwall as Caiaphas, Peter Caulfield as Herod, Phil King as Peter, Joel Harper-Jackson as Simon Zealotes and Sean Kingsley as Annas.
The Ambassador Theatre Group is to produce a brand new stage musical based on the life of the legendary Frank Sinatra, in partnership with Stewart Till and Frank Sinatra Enterprises. The show, which is planned to open in 2018, will feature a number of timeless hit songs from Sinatra’s incredible catalogue of over 1400 tracks recorded during his illustrious career. Script development for the Frank Sinatra musical is planned to start shortly.
