True-life transition tale Call Me Vicky, officially received its world premiere last night (21 February 2019) at London’s Pleasance Theatre. We’re looking forward to Terri Paddock’s post-show Q&A with the company and other Mates’ reviews. In the meantime, here are some first-look photos of the production. Time to get booking!
Written by sisters Nicola and Stacey Bland, who also feature in the cast alongside Wendi Peters, Call Me Vicky is a debut play based entirely on a true story.
It’s 1980 in Elephant and Castle. Martin and best friend Debbie are getting ready for another night out at Martin’s favourite night spot, The Golden Girl, one of Soho’s premier drag clubs. However, tonight is not a regular night out. Tonight is the night that will change Martin’s life forever.
Will the love of Vicky’s friends, family and drag queens be enough to get her through the toughest of times? Call Me Vicky charts Vicky’s journey to become the person she knows herself to truly be.
Call Me Vicky runs from 19 February to 9 March 2019 at the Pleasance Theatre, Carpenters Mews, North Road, London N7 9EF. Performances run Tuesdays to Saturdays at 8pm, Sundays at 6pm. Tickets are priced £16 (previews £12). CLICK HERE TO PURCHASE!
