Matthew Warchus‘ smash-hit production of Charles Dickens’ timeless festive classic A Christmas Carol, in a new adaptation by Harry Potter and the Cursed Child‘s Jack Thorne, will return to the Old Vic Theatre for a second festive season, running from 27 November 2018 to 19 January 2019, with a new press night on 5 December.
Filling the auditorium to the brim with mince pies, music and merriment, a unique staging immerses the audience in this uplifting story for everyone aged 8+.
On a bitter Christmas Eve night a cold-hearted miser is visited by four ghosts. Transported to worlds past, present and future, Ebenezer Scrooge witnesses what a lifetime of fear and selfishness has led to and sees with fresh eyes the lonely life he has built for himself. Can Ebenezer be saved before it’s too late?
The production received rave reviews this past Christmas when Rhys Ifans starred as Ebenezer Scrooge. Casting for the return season is yet to be announced. A Christmas Carol is designed by Rob Howell, with lighting by Hugh Vanstone, sound by Simon Baker. The composer and arranger is Christopher Nightingale.
