In London theatre, Musicals by Terri PaddockLeave a Comment

I’m delighted to be able to deputise for my friend and My Theatre Mates co-founder Mark Shenton for two dates of his weekly West End chat show in October. Coq-Tales and Conversations takes place each Thursday or Friday afternoon as part of the Live at Zedel season, programmed by renowned American composer Scott Alan, at the renowned “Crazy Coqs” cabaret venue at Brasserie Zedel in the heart of the West End.

For the hour-long event on Friday 28 October 2016 at 4.30pm, I’ll be chatting to a trio of talents from the 25th anniversary revival of Moby Dick! The Musical, which opens this month at the Union Theatre: director-choreographer Andrew Wright along with Anton Stephans and Brenda Edwards, who play Headmistress and Esta in the show and who are both former X Factor finalists.

Straight after Moby Dick!, Andrew turns to West End work on the transfer of Half a Sixpence and his own star-studded production of Cinderella at the London Palladium. His myriad other credits from the West End, Chichester, Bath, Leicester and elsewhere, include: Mrs Henderson Presents, Guys and Dolls, Singin’ In The Rain, Barnum, 42nd Street, The Critic/The Real Inspector Hound, High Society, Wonderful Town, Betty Blue Eyes, Saturday Night Fever, A Little Night Music, Follies, Oliver!, The Showgirl Within, Almost Like Being In Love, Stepping Out, Once Upon A Time At The Adelphi, By Jeeves, I Sing and Soul Traders. For Moby Dick! producer Amy Anzel, he directed and choreographed Happy Days (National Tour).

We’ll be talking about Andrew’s wide-ranging career, including turning from major West End productions to an Off-West End revival of a notorious ‘flop’ musical. And finding out what it’s like working with Andrew on Moby Dick! from Anton and Brenda. Be sure to #GetSocial withMoby Dick! and its cast via their dedicated pages on www.stagefaves.com.
