What would you do if you knew you were being watched… watched by someone you were not even aware was there?
Adapted from the classic 1897 story by H.G. Wells and brought to life in the highly atmospheric labyrinth of The Vaults beneath Waterloo Station, Old Lamp Entertainment presents the world premiere of THE CRYSTAL EGG LIVE, a multi-sensory, multi-disciplinary theatrical experience set in 19th-century London.
After watching his father dash into the night, Charley Wace is taken in by Uncle Cave, an eccentric man who, with his dysfunctional family, runs a curiosity shop in London’s Seven Dials Rookery.
When the body of his father is found in the river, Charley inherits the sole possession found with him – a crystal egg. Believing the object to be of value, the family plan to sell it quickly and improve their lives. However one night Uncle Cave makes a chance discovery about this seemingly innocent item, a discovery that threatens to tear the family apart and plunge the world into a greater danger.
Fusing multiple art forms including light, sound, video, and performance, this production will bring to life the work of H. G. Wells, visionary author of The War of the Worlds and The Time Machine, like never before.
Follow Charley Wace’s extraordinary journey as he discovers an object of immense power amongst the dusty relics of his Uncle Cave’s curiosity shop and comes face to face with creatures of another world. #TheyAreWatching
In the premiere production, Des Carney is Charley, with Edwin Flay as Wells, Caroline Main as Anna, Jess Boyde as Mrs Cave, Mark Parsons as Mr Cave, Vincent Latorre as Bosso and Piers Hunt as Policeman.
