As part of her ongoing post-show Q&A series, on Thursday 19 April 2018 at the Pleasance Theatre, Mates co-founder Terri Paddock will talk to Charlotte Merriam and the #FemalesWithNoFilter about the world premiere of DAMES. Got any questions?

DAMES is about the intimate and exposing nature of friendships in the true contemporary confessional. It’s 2am on some idle Friday. Six women collide in the only place for honesty… a club toilet. DAMES tells the story of six dysfunctional millennials struggling to make sense of the world beyond the bog. Dive into a cubicle of inebriated women drowning in their own word-vomit.

Charlotte Merriam’s debut play, the inaugural offering from new female-centric theatre company Siberian Lights, is a gloriously rude, obscure and shambolic glimpse of females with no filter.

DAMES is a rude awakening about personal disarray. Exploring the desperate need for affirmation and security which leaks out when alcohol washes away the veneer of competent adulthood, the play uses surrealism to lay bare the barrier between thought and speech.

Writer and actor Charlotte Merriam comments:

DAMES is about trying to figure out the meaning of life, the point of it all. It’s the bizarre, vibrant, surreal conversation that can only happen in the loo at 2am on a night out. This is a play to make you laugh and cry, love your friends all the more, and make you consider the anxiety and boundaries which block real honesty.”

Merriam is joined in the all-female cast by Olivia Elsden, Ellie Heydon, Arabella Neale, Bianca Stephens and Melanie Stevens. The premiere production is directed by Jamie Garven.

The performance runs 60 minutes with no interval. For the post-show Q&A ‘lockin’ on Thursday 19 April 2018, I’ll be joined by author Charlotte Merriam and the DAMES company.
