As part of her ongoing post-show Q&A series, on Tuesday 23 July 2019, Mates co-founder Terri Paddock is at the West End’s Trafalgar Studios for the acclaimed new production of Peter Shaffer classic Equus, transferred from the Theatre Royal Stratford East. Got any questions?
After Education Education Education, I’m delighted to return to Trafalgar Studios for their next main house production, English Touring Theatre and Theatre Royal Stratford East’s critically acclaimed West End transfer of Peter Shaffer‘s Equus.
When teenager Alan Strang’s pathological fascination leads him to blind six horses in a Hampshire stable, psychiatrist Dr Martin Dysart is tasked with uncovering the motive behind the boy’s actions. As Dysart delves into Alan’s world of twisted spirituality, passion and sexuality, he begins to question his own sanity and motivations in a world driven by consumerism.
Inspired by a true story, Peter Shaffer’s ‘mesmerising’ (Evening Standard) and transfixing psychological thriller, first staged in 1973, is re-imagined by award-winning director Ned Bennett in this ‘dazzling new revival’ (Sunday Times).
Ethan Kai and Zubin Varla reprise their performances as Alan Strang and Dr Dysart in this limited nine-week West End season. The cast also features Robert Fitch, Norah Lopez Holden, Ira Mandela Siobhan and Keith Gilmore.
