“No-one wants to be dumped at Christmas!” Watch playwright and performer Natasha Santos talking to London Live about the personal experiences that inspired her comedy Getting Over Everest and adding festive fun to the emotional mix. Book your tickets now!
Santos’ female-led comedy runs at The Hope Theatre from 10 to 21 December 2019.
Getting dumped is like a mountain, full of setbacks and revenge cock…wait, what?
Defined by her relationship status, Libby knows little else. When Rob Everest unexpectedly decides to cut ties two weeks before Christmas, she spirals into an unannounced depression as she tries to find her feet and festive spirit outside of a 10 year relationship. With the support of her friend Steph and the man from the bar, outspoken and explicit Libby attempts to find out who she is and what life has to offer.
Getting Over Everest is a comedic look at the peril of being dumped at the most wonderful time of the year… Christmas! The unique production combines monologue storytelling, ensemble performance, character comedy and the ultimate Christmas playlist.
Santos’ production was first seen at Tristan Bates Theatre as part of Camden Fringe in the summer of 2018, when it was described by Londontheatre1 as “entertaining and eclectic”. It debuted at The Hope Theatre in April 2019, when it played in the Sunday/Monday two-day slot.
In addition to writing Getting Over Everest, Santos also stars as Libby. She is joined in the production by Samantha Spurgin and George Vafakis. Katherine Timms, who previously worked with Santos on Marlborough Road, directs.
