After an acclaimed try-out in September, the world premiere of Simon Perrott’s debut play In Conversation with Graham Norton returns for a full new year season at London’s Hope Theatre. Time to get booking!
The premiere production of Simon Perrott‘s one-man play In Conversation with Graham Norton runs at the Hope Theatre from 8 to 26 January 2019, with a press night on 10 January. Jay Parsons reprises his performance, once again directed by Joseph Winters.

What do you do when nothing in your life makes sense, when all your thoughts seem insane and you have nobody to talk to? Mark is finding life tough and isolating so the decision is easy. He’s going to chat to Graham Norton. He might even chat to Graham about the incident with the cat.

Mark has decided to he would rather talk to a picture of Graham Norton than any of his friends or family about his boldest dreams, concerns about sex, sexuality, his family and his school life. He has overheard Graham Norton on his parents’ radio and he imagines himself on that chat show. He spills his anxieties and fantasies and imagines the response that he might get.
With eye-watering candour, and refreshing wit, In Conversation with Graham Norton moves seamlessly from one young man’s original foray into sexuality to inside the bizarre world that is a teenager’s head.
Graham Norton‘s Friday night chat show has been a staple on BBC television since 2007. On radio, he presents a regular show on BBC Radio 2. Note: Norton does not appear in this production.
Simon Perrott‘s stage play paying tribute to Norton’s conversational talents is as emotional as it is hilarious. Batavia Productions and Jasper Plays present this look at what it’s like to feel totally alone in this modern era of the World Wide Web and where this loneliness can lead you.
Resident Director at the Almeida Theatre, Joseph Winters, directs the one-act In Conversation with Graham Norton. Winters’ career has been spent fostering playwrights from established playwrights at the Almeida to emerging playwrights on the Soho Young Writers course. But always he is interested in stories that connect across the generations.
