Rochelle Sherona chatted to Love London Love Culture about starring in the Hackney Empire’s upcoming production of Jack and the Beanstalk as Jack Trot. This year’s annual pantomime runs from 20 November 2021 to 2 January 2022.

Hi, how does it feel to be part of this year’s pantomime? It feels incredible to be playing such a great role and working with so many talented people, I feel incredibly lucky.

What do you love the most about pantomime? I think that the whole Christmas period is so magical especially for children, panto is a massive part of that and that’s what I love.

How does it feel to be performing at Hackney Empire? Hackney Empire has always had a place in my heart as I had my second-year show here whilst I was training and I have heard so many amazing things about Hackney panto.

Could you tell me more about the character you play in Jack and the Beanstalk? Jack is very much someone you want in your life always, never gets defeated and is always positive whatever the situation they are in.

How has it been working on the production so far? It’s been so great to be part of such a fun and supportive company and everyone is so excited about opening this amazing show.

If people haven’t booked a ticket yet – why do you think that they should? This is the first time since covid that everyone is starting to go out again and panto, especially Hackney Empire panto is a beautiful way to make Christmas time such a special season for the family.
