First up in our Spotlight feature is Body and Blood, which opens Festival 47 from 10 July 2017 at 18:30. I caught up with writer Lorraine Mullaney:

Describe your show in three words.

Witty, joyous, heart-wrenching.

Tell us a bit more about your theatre company.

Unclouded Moon Productions develops and produces new plays that tell stories about ordinary people in extraordinary situations. We’re telling untold stories. Who knew that arranged marriages continued in Ireland until the 1970s?

We’re tackling the tough subject of Irish arranged marriages with wit and live music. It’s entertaining, funny, sad, and action packed so if you fancy a great night out come and see the show.

Is this your first time at the King’s Head?

Yes, we’re delighted to be performing in such a great space. The theatre’s in the heart of the North London Irish community so it’s the perfect location for the play.

Who else in the festival programme are you most excited about?

By All Accounts Two Normal Girls – it’s great to see women doing comedy.

What is your inspiration to continue making theatre?

Telling untold stories about ordinary people in a way that is engaging and entertaining.

What are the future plans for your show?

We’re raising funding to take it on a UK tour to Irish communities outside London.

What is the best production you have seen this year – can be any genre, style, in any theatre or performance space?

Open Sky’s Scorched at Brighton Fringe. A gripping one-man show with great writing, superb acting and brilliant production values.
