Have you booked your family ticket yet for Iris Theatre’s new immersive adaptation of the Brothers Grimm’s Hansel and Gretel yet? With the company’s new video, go behind the scenes with the cast exploring the grounds of St Paul’s, the Actors’ Church – then get booking!

Featuring a life-size, edible gingerbread house, Hansel & Gretel and the Witch Baba follows young Hansel and Gretel as they travel deeper and deeper into a dark, forbidding forest. There, in the shadows, you might glimpse a figure in a red hood chased by a wolf, or a witch’s hut standing tall on chicken legs; all manner of magical beasts lurk in these woods…

Promenading round the grounds of St Paul’s Church, this immersive fairytale, Iris artistic director Daniel Winder, is guaranteed to fright and delight curious children and adventurous adults alike. Deshaye Gayle and Rosie Abraham are Hansel and Gretel, along with Josie Brightwell (Mother/Baby Yaga), Jennifer Clement (Vasilia/Marya), Nick Howard-Brown (Father/Koschei) and Will Kelly (Ivan/Baba Yagas)

The production continues Iris Theatre’s tenth anniversary season. It’s directed by Amy Draper and designed by Amber Scarlett, with costumes by Sophie Donaldson, puppets by Jonny Dixon, lighting by Rachel Sampley, sound by Filipe Gomes and music by Candid Caldicot.

Hansel & Gretel and the Witch Baba continues at St Paul’s, the Actors’ Church, until 3 September 2017.
