A royal. A witch. A popstar. They come from very different worlds, but are more alike than you might think, certainly in Alex Milne’s new all-female comedy MEGA, which runs at the Tristan Bates Theatre. Discover more in the trailer, then book your tickets!
A hit at the 35th Annual One Act Festival at Stockwell Playhouse earlier this year, it runs from 10 to 13 July 2019.
The royal, the witch and the popstar have more in common than one might imagine. They may be liars, but aren’t we all? MEGA is a black comedy unraveling the blurred line between who we are and who we want to be.
The one-act play deconstructs the turbulent subject of female identity. In an age where ‘finding ourselves’ seems obligatory, three young women wade through truth and facade. MEGA asks whether we find or create ourselves, and, crucially, whether there is any difference.
London School of Musical Theatre graduate Milne makes both her writing and directorial debut with this production. She is joined in the cast by Kirsty King and Casey Bird, who are also recent graduates of LSMT.

MEGA is part of a packed summer at the Covent Garden venue. Next week, it runs alongside Exploding Whale’s latest production, Man Down, a tale of a young man struggling to cope after being sexually assaulted by his girlfriend. They’re followed later this month by a series of Camden Fringe shows, including SevenArc’s new devised piece In Limbo and Blue Devil’s dark romance inspired by Joseph Conrad’s The Secret Sharer, The Geminus.
MEGA runs at the Tristan Bates Theatre, The Actors Centre, 1a Tower Street, London, WC2H 9NP from 10 to 13 July with performances Wednesday to Saturday at 6.15pm, matinee Saurday at 1pm. Tickets are priced £12. CLICK HERE TO PURCHASE!
