Brigit Forsyth is to star alongside her daughter Zoe Mills in Killing Time, an irreverent brand new comedy exploring inspiration, music, life and the right to die. Written by Mills and featuring music by Forsyth, Killing Time runs at London’s Park Theatre in Park90 from 7 February to 4 March 2017, with a press night on 1 March. The production will also pioneer the Park Theatre’s first ever dementia-friendly access performance on Wednesday 1 March at 3.15pm.
When professional cellist Hester Brook (Brigit Forsyth) is diagnosed with terminal cancer, she resigns herself to the prospect of a graceful and dignified final curtain. Such hopes are dashed, however, with the arrival of her new carer Sara (Zoe Mills). Armed with the best of intentions, little social sense and a morbid belief in the importance of a social media legacy, Sara’s school of care proves to be anathema for Hester’s gallows humour.
Brigit Forsyth has extensive television and stage credits including the BBC sitcom Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads, and can currently be seen in Still Open all Hours. Forsyth says:
“Hester is the best and most challenging part I’ve ever taken on. She has everything one could hope for to try and play- great courage, strength, vulnerability, humour and then there’s the music! I have never been so frightened and excited by taking on a character – and it’s written by my daughter. No pressure then!”
Featuring an original mix of live music, audiovisuals and soundscape, Killing Time is written by her co-star and daughter, Zoe Mills, and inspired by an original composition by Brigit Forsyth, which she will play live among a feast of cello classics. Word Mills, their theatre company, are co-producing Killing Time with Dead Letter Perfect, whose sell-out production of The Gathered Leaves performed in PARK200 in 2015.

Loss of self and identity via illness is a challenging subject, but we are also thrilled to be working with Word Mills and Dead Letter Perfect to deliver our first ever Dementia Friendly performance as part of a range of access performances in our Spring/ Summer season. By providing a relaxed environment that will reduce stress levels, we can make it possible for those affected by Dementia to experience a live theatre performance.”
