NEWS: Full cast announced for London run of Caroline, Or Change, starring Sharon D Clarke

Hampstead Theatre has announced the full company for Tony Kushner’s and Jeanine Tesori’s musical Caroline, or Change, following its critically acclaimed run at Chichester Festival Theatre last summer. The production, directed by Michael Longhurst, will run at the venue from 12 March to 21 April 2018, with a press night on 19 March.

Sharon D Clarke, who will reprise her role as Caroline Thibodeaux, will be joined by Naana Agyei-Ampuda (Dotty Moffett), Alastair Brookshaw (Stuart Gellman), Angela Caesar (The Moon), Me’sha Bryan (The Washing Machine), Sue Kelvin (Grandma Gellman), Teddy Kempner (Mr. Stopnick), Ako Mitchell (The Dryer/The Bus), Abiona Omonua (Emmie Thibodeaux), Vincent Pirillo (Grandpa Gellman), Carole Stennett (Radio 3), Sharon Rose (Radio 2), Lauren Ward (Rose Stopnick Gellman) and T’Shan Williams (Radio 1).

Also in the cast are: Charlie Gallacher/Aaron Gelkoff (Noah), Kenyah Sandy/Mickell Stewart-Grimes (Jackie) and Josiah Choto/David Dube (Joe).

Caroline, or Change is designed by Fly Davis, with choreography by Ann Yee, musical direction by Nigel Lilley, lighting by Jack Knowles and sound by Paul Arditti.

Olivier Award-winning actress Sharon D Clarke’s theatre credits include Caroline, Or Change (Chichester), The Life (Southwark Playhouse), Pigs and Dogs (Royal Court Theatre), Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom (National Theatre), An Oak Tree (National Theatre), Everyman (National Theatre), Porgy and Bess (Open Air Theatre, Regent’s Park), Blues in the Night (Hackney Empire), The Amen Corner (National Theatre), Ghost (original London cast), Hairspray (Shaftesbury Theatre), Chicago (Adelphi Theatre), We Will Rock You (original London cast), The Lion King (Lyceum Theatre), Rent (Shaftesbury Theatre), Guys and Dolls (National Theatre), Mama I Want to Sing (Cambridge Theatre), Once on this Island (Birmingham Rep and West End) and Medea (Theatr Clwyd and Young Vic). Clarke has also starred in four pantomime seasons at the Hackney Empire.


Acceptance

The cast has also been announced for the world premiere of Amy Ng’s Acceptance, which will play at Hampstead Downstairs from 2 March to 7 April 2018 (press night is 14 March). Directed by Anna Ledwich, the cast will include Teresa Banham, Debbie Korley, Jennifer Leong and Bo Poraj.

Acceptance is designed by Frankie Bradshaw, with lighting by Elliot Griggs and sound by Alexandra Faye Braithwaite.
