The planned Golden Girls UK tour and album featuring Maria Friedman, Lesley Garrett and Bonnie Langford have been cancelled according to reports.
Posts on the @goldengirlsuk Twitter page, signed by UK promoter Cuffer and Taylor and record label Decca read: “We are extremely sorry to announce the cancellation of the Golden Girls tour starring Maria Friedman, Lesley Garrett and Bonnie Langford scheduled for early 2019. The forthcoming album release due out November will also not now proceed.
“Without the scheduled TV and PR activity surrounding the album campaign, we have had no choice but to take the difficult decision to cancel both the tour and the record.”
The tour was due to begin early next year, opening at the Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury on 12 January 2019, with other venues including the Usher Hall in Edinburgh and the London Palladium.
The Golden Girls album was due to be released on 30 November featuring songs picked specially by the three artists involved. Tracks were thought to be from The Greatest Showman, Chess and Mamma Mia!
