NEWS: Hayley Tamaddon joins the West End cast of Everybody’s Talking About Jamie in the role of Miss Hedge

New casting has been announced for the award-winning musical Everybody’s Talking About Jamie at London’s Apollo Theatre with Hayley Tamaddon (Coronation Street) stepping into the role of Miss Hedge, Sejal Keshwala joining the company as Ray, and Sabrina Sandhu playing Pritti Pasha, all from 28 January 2019.

They will join the previously announced Layton Williams who takes over the role of Jamie New and Shane Richie who will play Hugo/Loco Chanelle.

New cast members also include Marlon G Day (Dad), Momar Diagne, Zahra Jones (Becca), Luke Latchman (Sayid), Rachel Price (Swing), Biancha Szynal (Swing), Adam Taylor (Swing) and Ziggy Tyler Taylor (Levi).

Continuing with the show are current cast members: Alex Anstey (Laika Virgin), Luke Baker (Dean Paxton), Courtney Bowman (Fatimah), Marvyn Charles (Swing), James Gillan (Tray Sophisticay), Ryan Hughes (Mickey), Daniel Jacob (Sandra Bollock), Melissa Jacques, Emily Kenwright (Vicki), Jordan Laviniere (Cy) Rebecca McKinnis (Margaret New), and Harriet Payne (Bex).

Inspired by a true story, Everybody’s Talking About Jamie has songs by lead singer-songwriter of The Feeling, Dan Gillespie Sells and book and lyrics by writer Tom MacRae, from an idea by Jonathan Butterell who also directs. The musical has won seven major theatre awards and was nominated for five Olivier Awards.

The musical is also to be made into a major film by Sheffield-based production company Warp Films, completing the fairy-tale journey from a 16-year-old approaching a documentary maker to hit West End Show and now the big screen. Filming is expected to commence this spring.

Hayley Tamaddon plays Miss Hedge. Tamaddon is perhaps best known for playing Del Dingle in Emmerdale and Andrea Beckett in Coronation Street and for winning the fifth series of ITV1’s Dancing on Ice. Her musical theatre roles include Susan in Closets, Millie in Thoroughly Modern Millie (UK Tour), Roxie Hart in Chicago (UK Tour), The Lady of the Lake in Spamalot (UK tour), Janet in The Rocky Horror Show(UK Tour), Frenchie in Grease(UK Tour), Diana Morales in A Chorus Line (Sheffield Theatres), Trish in Boogie Nights (UK Tour), Carmen in Fame (UK Tour), Laura in Boyband (West End) and Lisa in Mamma Mia! (West End).

Sabrina Sandhu plays Pritti Pasha. Sandhu’s theatre credits include East is East (Nottingham Playhouse/Northern Stage), If We Were Older (National Theatre) and I Dare You (Nottingham Playhouse). Television credits include Diddy TV.

Sejal Keshwala plays Ray. Keshwala’s theatre credits include Bend It Like Beckham (Phoenix Theatre), Anita and Me (Birmingham Rep), Trident Moon (Finborough Theatre), My Fair Lady 60th Anniversary Concert (Alex Parker Productions), Destiny’s Child Re:Imagine and Fugees: The Complete Re-Score (Rogue Symphony), Bernstein’s Mass (Southbank Centre) and Company (Phoenix Arts).
