Full casting has been announced for THAT MAN, a new musical about love, lust, loyalty and deceit in 1950s London and featuring hit songs That Man, Liquid Lunch, A Night Like This and others made famous by Dutch singer Caro Emerald. The show is set to preview with two specially staged concert performances at London’s Hippodrome Casino on Tuesday 20 September 2016, when Mates co-founder Terri Paddock will also host an exclusive Q&A about the show’s creation and future life.
Jonny Labey returns to the stage after his screen success as Paul Coker in EastEnders to star in the musical as Rick, That Man of the title. Labey’s previous musical credits include In the Heights and White Christmas.
Labey is joined in the THAT MAN cast by Sabrina Aloueche (We Will Rock You), Christoper Howell (Wicked), Treyc Cohen (The Lion King), Rhiannon Chesterman (Mrs Henderson Presents), Stephanie Rojas (Love Me Tender) and Kate England (To Kill a Mockingbird).
THAT MAN has a book by Wendy Gill and is directed by award-winning director Paul Boyd (Molly Wobbly), with musical direction by Iain Vince-Gatt and choreography by multi-award-nominated Anthony Whiteman. The staged concerts are produced by the same team that recently created the Tower of London’s sell-out Live at the Tower gala variety shows featuring a host of West End stars.
It’s 1957 and Chas puts his best friend Rick to the test when he suggests a wager, based upon winning the favours of Rosa, the singing star at London’s famous cabaret club, The Flamingo. When the wager backfires, Rick faces a dilemma. His pride and his position among his peer group forces him to take a course of action in total conflict with his desires…
THAT MAN has two performances only, at 4pm and 8pm, on Tuesday 20 September 2016. The Q&A hosted by Terri Paddock takes places immediately after the matinee.
