Mamma Mia!, the Abba jukebox musical, is to return to the Edinburgh Playhouse for a five week Christmas season in 2016.

The show is on its first UK-only tour – setting off from Bristol in March and arriving in Edinburgh in November. It’s previous visit to the Playhouse was in Spring 2006 as part of an international tour. Using Abba’s hits, Judy Craymer’s book is set on a Greek paradise island. On the eve of her wedding, a daughter’s quest to discover the identity of her father brings three men from her mother’s past back to the island they last visited 20 years ago.

The show will play the Edinburgh Playhouse from Tuesday 29 November 2016 to Saturday 7 January 2017. Tickets go on general sale at 10am on Monday 7 December 2015 and to ATG Cardholders and Groups on Monday 23 November.

Casting for the UK tour has yet to be announced.
