A 2016/2017 tour of Simon Beaufoy’s The Full Monty has been announced, set to open at Bournemouth on the 21st September 2016 and finishing at the Sheffield Lyceum on the 15th April 2017. The cast will be led by Gary Lucy, along with Joe Absolom, Andrew Dunn, Louis Emerick, Chris Fountain and Kai Owen.
Based on the 1997 smash hit film, the story follows six out of work Sheffield steelworkers with nothing to lose, daring to bare all to make a bit of money. The story and the characters still resonate with audiences today.
Featuring many of the iconic songs that were in the film, including tracks by Donna Summer, Tom Jones and Hot Chocolate, the stage production has been adapted from the original film by the Oscar- and BAFTA-winning writer of the film, Simon Beaufoy.
The Full Monty is Beaufoy’s first work for the theatre. His other screen credits also include: The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Salmon Fishing in Yemen, 127 Hours and Slumdog Millionaire.
This UK tour production of the hit film is directed by Jack Ryder. His directing credits include: national tours of Calendar Girls and the short film Act of Memory with Claire Skinner, Owen Teale and Anna Massey, which was officially selected for nine international festivals around the world including the Cannes Film Festival.
Design for the production is by Robert Jones, choreography by Ian West, lighting by Tim Lutkin and sound by Sarah Weltman.
The Full Monty will begin its UK tour on the 21st of September at the Bournemouth Pavilion and will finish at the Sheffield Lyceum on the 15th April 2017. For more information and to book tickets visit:http://www.fullmontytheplay.com/
