In addition to its experimental #OVinCamera live staging of Lungs, the Old Vic Theatre continues its free streaming of archived productions. Next up will be Joe Penhall’s Mood Music, which premiered at the venue in 2018.
As part of ‘Your Old Vic’ online activities during theatre lockdown, Mood Music will stream on the Old Vic’s YouTube channel free for one week from 7pm on 7 July 2020. Audiences are invited to donate if they can to support the theatre’s future.
In a top London recording studio, Cat, a young songwriter, her producer Bernard, their lawyers and psychotherapists go to battle over who owns a hit song. Amidst a gathering storm of bitter complaints and recriminations Cat and Bernard inflict a devastating toll on each other.
Roger Michell directs the premiere production, which stars Ben Chaplin, Pip Carter, Kurt Egyiawan, Seána Kerslake, Jemma Redgrave and Neil Stuke.
The rest of the creative team are Hildegard Bechtler, costume designer by Dinah Collin, composition by David Arnold, lighting by Rick Fisher, sound by John Leonard and casting by Jessica Ronane. Mood Music follows the Old Vic’s streaming of A Monster Calls.
