NEWS: Original London cast recording of Dreamgirls released on 14 April

Producers have confirmed that the original London Cast recording of the West End premiere of Broadway classic Dreamgirls will be released mid-April through Sony Classical and is available to pre-order from through Amazon. 

The double-disc album was recorded last month at the Savoy Theatre and includes all of the original cast performing songs such as ‘And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going’, ‘I Am Changing’, ‘Listen’ and ‘One Night Only’.

This new album was produced by  Henry Krieger and mixed by Andy Bradfield. Vocals that will be heard on the album will include Amber Riley as Effie White, Liisi LaFontaine as Deena Jones and Ibinabo Jack as Lorrell Robinson – making up the soulful singing trio ‘The Dreams’; Joe Aaron Reid as

Curtis Taylor Jr, Adam J. Bernard as Jimmy Early, Tyrone Huntley as C.C. White, Nicholas Bailey as Marty and Lily Frazer as Michelle Morris.

News of the album as the musical continues to wow audiences at the Savoy Theatre, where it officially opened in December – 35 years after the original production on Broadway.

The production is directed and choreographed  by Casey Nicholaw and features set design by Tim Hatley. Costume design is by Gregg Barnes, lighting by Hugh Vanstone and sound design by Richard Brooker.

Dreamgirls transports you to a revolutionary time in American music history. It charts the tumultuous journey of a young female singing trio from Chicago, Illinois called ‘The Dreams’, as they learn the hard lesson that show business is as tough as it is fabulous.

The Original Cast Recording for Dreamgirls will be released on 14 April 2017.
