Out of Joint, the new writing and touring theatre company, is seeking an experienced theatre director to work alongside founding Artistic Director Max Stafford-Clark and Producer Martin Derbyshire as the company’s joint Artistic Director.
The appointee will develop and direct new work for the company, discovering and nurturing new voices and forging relationships with artists and organisations in the theatre industry.
Co-founded by Max Stafford-Clark and Sonia Friedman 23 years ago, Out of Joint has built a reputation for excellence in its productions of new plays from new and established writers, alongside occasional bold takes on classic plays. It has toured extensively in the UK and overseas, and has co-produced with some of the country’s best theatres. Its next production, Consent by Nina Raine, is a co-production with the National Theatre where it opens in March.
Max Stafford-Clark said:
“This is a terrific opportunity for a director to learn how a theatre company works and to benefit from our resources and experience in commissioning, developing and producing new theatre. It is also a brilliant opportunity for the company, and I’m excited to begin the process of finding our new colleague, and to our benefiting from their energy and ideas.”
Interested parties are invited to apply by 1 April 2017 via the Out of Joint website.
