Oxia Theatre, a new company founded by graduates of RADA’s MA Theatre Laboratory, makes its debut next week at Golden Goose Theatre, where it has been chosen to open the Emerge 2021 season of new works.
Oxia’s world premiere production of Greg Wilkinson‘s ASSISTED, exploring the pervasiveness of Artificial Intelligence, runs for four performances only from Wednesday 1 December to Saturday 4 December 2021.
Jordan and Connie want their AI voice assistant – Alivia – to make their perfect lives just that little bit better. But happens when the technology starts to take control?
A funny and searching exploration of love and domesticity in the near future.
ASSISTED explores the trend – greatly accelerated over the pandemic – for technology to play a role in the most intimate parts of our day-to-day domestic existence, capturing and manipulating increasing amounts of unfiltered information about ourselves and our lives.
James Boyd, our wonderful male lead, designed our trailer from scratch! Look out for our upcoming interview with the man himself on his character 'Jordan' in #AssistedThePlay@GooseTheatre @emmamaywright @La_Lawrie pic.twitter.com/R7FAoNjcua

ASSISTED reflects and speculates on what might happen – in our use of language, in how we love, and in how we exercise agency – as that technology stops being purely our servant.
ASSISTED is the debut play by author Greg Wilkinson as well as the debut production by Oxia Theatre, a fledgling company seeking to address vital and urgent issues through original work and new writing.
The play is performed by Oxia’s James Boyd, Jessica Munna and Emma Wilkinson Wright, and directed by Gareth Watkins. Movement is by Mandy Gordon, lighting and sound by Chuma Emembolu. ASSISTED is produced by Tomás Barry for Oxia, with Sarah Lawrie as production consultant.
