The creators of Jason and the Golden Fleece, the epic new musical based on the Greek myth, have released a single, ‘For Evermore’, featuring Australian singer Amy Manford, previous leading lady of The Phantom of the Opera West End. The track is available worldwide across all streaming platforms from 11 June 2021.
Jason and the Golden Fleece is a stage musical with original book, music and lyrics by British husband-and-wife team Amy Lyddon and Nick Morrell. Full of adventure, comedy and romance, with a touch of magic, it tells the story of the Greek mythological hero, Jason, and his epic quest for the Golden Fleece.
First performed at The Other Palace in 2019 as a school production and met with overwhelming success, the musical has been developed into a full-scale family show. First listen studio recordings have also been announced, featuring a host of West End stars, including Jarnéia Richard-Noel and Millie O’Connell (Six the Musical), Katherine Glover (Thoroughly Modern Millie), Rob Houchen (City of Angels) and Bradley Jaden (Les Misérables).
Manford sings the role of the princess Medea, a strong-willed sorceress who dreams of escaping from her confinement within the palace walls and finding love.
Composer and lyricist Amy Lyddon said:
“When theatres became closed for the foreseeable future, we threw all of our energy into recording instead. We’re thrilled to be releasing this track at a time when freedom – the main theme of this song – has such fresh importance. Amy is an incredible artist and we’re delighted to be collaborating with her.”
The release of the single follows a first listen video with West End star Bradley Jaden performing a song in the title role of mythological hero Jason. The actor sings ‘Bring Me To The Fleece’, sung by Jason when he finds himself alone under a starry sky. He reflects on the loss of his parents and takes courage from feeling like they, along with the Gods, are watching over him. You can view the video HERE.
