The Rasheeda Speaking cast – three women, one man – are big supporters of Equal Representation for Actresses (ERA 50:50), indeed Elizabeth Berrington is one of the campaign’s co-founders. We love the pics of the company wearing their ERA 50:50 badges with pride – and can’t wait to see how the themes tie in to Joel Drake Johnson’s tense workplace drama. Check out rehearsal photos below – and then get booking!
In one of Chicago’s wealthiest hospitals, a white doctor tries to remove a black receptionist by enlisting her colleague as a spy. The women’s friendship quickly deteriorates, and a chilling power struggle ensues. With the office becoming a battleground of passive aggression and paranoia, things spin wildly out of control.
Elizabeth Berrington, Tanya Moodie, Sheila Reid and Bo Paraj star in the UK premiere of Joel Drake Johnson acclaimed American comedy drama Rasheeda Speaking, coming to Trafalgar Studios 2 from 18 April. This incendiary and timely new play examines underlying racism and inequality in the workplace, white guilt and the manipulation of women by men in power. The UK premiere is directed by Jonathan O’Boyle and presented by Troupe.
