Lane’s smart satire runs at The Vaults from 28 February to 1 March 2020.
Ryan Lane Will Be There Now In A Minute is a hilarious, inventive character comedy aimed at anyone with a complex relationship to home. Examining what it means to grow up gay in the forgotten town of Llanidloes, the show is a touching investigation into what it means to be Welsh and to be queer, and into the myths that surround and fuel the idea of national identity. The fast-paced, belly laugh-inducing show interweaves real life interviews from family members with unforgettable characters including bellowing Rugby teachers, beguiling maidens and belligerent Grandmas. Think The League of Gentlemen meets Under Milk Wood and Clueless.

When Ryan Lane Will Be There Now In A Minute ran at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2019, The Wee Review described it as “blissfully silly, wildly inventive” in its four-star review, while The Skinny said “Ryan Lane’s observed characters and clever writing make for an inventive retelling of life in small town Wales.” Following the Sottish success, Lane brought his show to Soho Theatre in November 2019 as part of the Soho Rising season.
An actor and comedian, Lane’s other stage credits include Let Me Play The Lion Too, I Spy With My Little Eye Something Beginning With Why Have You Been Sleeping With My Wife and Hilda & The Spectrum. He co-wrote Ryan Lane Will Be There Now In A Minute with dramaturg Laurence Cook and director Georgia Murphy.
