Roundhouse, London – until 25 August 2018

This saucy and sassy new show from the creators of La Soiree is highly entertaining and energetic – but could perhaps use a bit more variety in terms of the acts.

First of all, if you are planning on paying a visit to the Roundhouse to see this entertaining and mesmerising cabaret show don’t be fooled by the rather sophisticated bar setting that is the centrepiece for the show. What follows over the course of two hours is a mixture of cheekiness, playfulness and at times pure raunchiness.

Hosted by the charismatic and sharp-witted Reuben Kaye, there are plenty of surprises in store from the acts who appear on stage from the confident and hilarious performance of Laurie Hagen to the nimble footwork of Dandy Wellington.

But the real stand out performances from the evening come from the beautiful gracefulness of Yammel Rodriguez’s aerial act that showcases her flexibility wonderfully well and the amazing acrobatics of the Swizzle Boys (what they don’t know about mixing drinks in a variety of positions isn’t worth knowing) that keeps the audience thoroughly entertained.

Throughout it all there is a great energy from the cast and this really gets the audience excited and feeling as though they are involved with the show (with Reuben Kaye getting the audience involved with a game in the second half particularly getting a rousing reception).

But it has to be said at times it feels as though it all becomes repetitive and in danger of running out of steam towards the end, losing the flow of the show slightly. In this sense perhaps the show could be developed further, adding a few more acts in to keep energy levels high.

Despite this however, Club Swizzle is an intoxicating mixture of ingredients that provide plenty of laughs and entertainment – a great way to end the day with.
