‘Provocative, emotional, gritty & thought-provoking’: AT LAST – Lion & Unicorn Theatre ★★★★
At Last is provocative, emotional, gritty and thought-provoking – the qualities you wish for from every play you ever watch.
‘Are you ready for the truth?’: AT LAST – Lion & Unicorn Theatre ★★★★
At Last, what happens when an Island puts up the barriers and withdraws from the rest of the world? Playwrights James Lewis and Alexander Knott’s new play allows a terrifying glimpse into the way an event such as that could become a reality.
‘There was a part of me in every character’: FEEL – The Space & touring ★★★★★
James Lewis’ four-hander Feel, staged by Proforca Theatre and helmed by the company’s artistic director David Brady, is definitely worth seeing. From the moment the play begins with the soundscape of the London Underground, it feels contemporary and easily accessible.
ROMEO AND JULIET – Union Theatre
It’s no less radical a reinterpretation – the two lovers are reconceived as gay footballers here – but where Andy Bewley’s production really succeeds is in capturing the exultant highs of heady teen romance and the troubling lows of battling a world that doesn’t accept you.
WILL POWER – Theatre N16
As a name, Will Power conjures the image of a jack the lad, a confident (perhaps a touch arrogant) young guy with a slight swagger, affable nature and consistently positive outlook on life. In Toby Boutall’s play, William (Anthony Fagan) certainly is that.
