‘Seriously spectacular and a lot of fun’: BACK TO THE FUTURE — West End ★★★
The arrival of a trio of splashy big new musicals in the West End at roughly the same time – the others being Frozen and the ALW Cinderella – feels both like a brave move by producers but also, most importantly, a triumphant V sign (and I don’t necessarily mean ‘victory’) to the pandemic and the chaos, misery and uncertainty it has caused.

Today, for the first time since the mid-December lockdown brought the shutters down on most forms of social interaction in public, including the closure of non-essential shops, pubs, restaurants, theatres, cinemas, museums and galleries, Britain is beginning the process of edging out of those some of those restrictions.

Producer Colin Ingram (Ghost – The Musical) and Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale (creators of the Back To The Future film trilogy) have announced that Back To The Future The Musical will transfer to the West End’s Adelphi Theatre, previewing from 14 May 2020, following an out-of-town opening at Manchester Opera House in March 2020.

Olly Dobson is amazing in Back to the Future. He sounds, looks and even has the mannerisms of Marty, the portrayal is so well done I don’t think anyone else could have done a better job.
