The Little Gardener by Emily Hughes is a popular children’s story and Eva Sampson has directed an innovative piece of theatre via a clever adaptation. Produced by How It Ended, the show has been touring the UK delighting young audiences through the window of a pop-up greenhouse!
Eva Sampson: We’re big fans of Emily’s books – she’s such a wonderful artist and a real joy to collaborate with. We’ve worked with Emily before on an adaptation of her debut book Wild which we workshopped last year.
Over the last few years my work has been pretty evenly divided between making work for children and young people (The Scarecrows’ Wedding, Raymond Briggs’ Father Christmas) as well as site-specific, interactive experiences (Hotel Plays, Really Emergency Theatre). So this summer, I hope to put those experiences to good use with the outdoor stage adaptation of The Little Gardener by Emily Hughes.
