For the first time ever Edward Fox, 81, is joined by his son, Freddie Fox, 29, on stage and it is a partnership that brings out the best in Oscar Wilde’s An Ideal Husband. The surprisingly modern comedy (about insider trading and dodgy politicians) is the third major production, and, by far, the most successful of Dominic Dromgoole’s year-long Wilde season at the Vaudeville Theatre.

Patrick Marber’s critically acclaimed production of Tom Stoppard’s TRAVESTIES transfers to the West End in 2017 for a limited run at the Apollo Theatre, with over 100 tickets at each performance at just £20. The production opens on 14 February 2017, with previews from 3 February, and runs until 29 April.

The result is a glorious intellectual spritzer, with Carr at its centre in a magnificent, defining, wittily commanding and endearing performance from Tom Hollander. As Carr in senility he frames the tale, a stooping querulous old mole in a ratty brown dressing gown and long-dead straw boater: in between times he and the hat reclaim their youth and the Zurich days.

NEWS: Richard Madden will not return to Romeo & Juliet, Freddie Fox completes run

Further to last week’s announcement that Freddie Fox would be sharing the role of Romeo, the Kenneth Branagh Theatre Company today (3 August 2016) sadly announced that due to medical advice, Richard Madden will not be returning to the company of Romeo and Juliet before the production completes its run on 13 August.

Kenneth Branagh Theatre Company today announced that Freddie Fox will be joining the company of Romeo and Juliet, sharing the role of Romeo with Richard Madden. This is to allow Richard Madden sufficient time for his injured ankle to continue to heal and because his doctors have prescribed rest between performances.
