While London’s Queen’s Theatre is being restored, the West End production of Les Misérables will continue in performance on Shaftesbury Avenue with plans being announced shortly for a four-month season at the Gielgud Theatre from the end of July 2019.
Where to start on something that is so perfect that it defies belief, for, Company is the very definition of perfection in my opinion. From the opening to the closing moment time just flashes by, such are the performances delivered by the whole cast.
They don’t come much more glitzy than a new Sondheim production in the West End. That Company is one of Sondheim’s most popular if not THE most popular of his musicals could be gauged by the roar that went up on opening night even before the lights had dimmed.

This is certainly a major theatrical event — Cicero’s speeches, with their mixture of sarcasm and idealism, are great, but not everyone will enjoy the comic interpretation of some of these characters, and the storytelling does get a bit bogged down in the second part.

Rosalie Craig, Owen McDonnell and Justin Edwards are amongst new West End cast announced today for Jez Butterworth’s The Ferryman, taking over from 8 January 2018.
Jez Butterworth and Sam Mendes are names pretty much guaranteed to make any theatregoing regular pay attention, both are synonymous with high quality productions (Butterworth’s Jerusalem regularly crops up among best play lists while Mendes’ list of director credits is too long to replay here) and they worked together on Spectre, the most recent movie in the James Bond franchise.
