Over 50 years on and the Age of Aquarius is still providing a relevant, controversial (in parts) and – eventually – thunderously entertaining piece of musical theatre in Hair.
‘Entirely seductive’: HAIR – Touring
This 50th anniversary tour of Hair the Musical does more than any to make me like the show.
‘The rousing chorus leaves you feeling free & uplifted’: HAIR – Touring ★★★
Hair doesn’t have much of a story but focusses on hippies, LGBTQ+ rights, Black Live Matter, women’s equality, the anti-war movement, freedom and so much more.

The Real Theatre Buffs: Hair’s Clothing Optional performance
As reported in The Sun this week, the company of Hair at the Vaults invited us to organize a performance of the show where the audience would arrive and enjoy the show (and the bar) clothing optional.

REVIEW ROUND-UP: Hair The Musical at The Vaults
Following a successful run at Manchester’s Hope Mill Theatre, Jonathan O’Boyle’s 50th-anniversary production of hippie musical Hair arrives in London for an extended season at The Vaults. Here’s what critics have been saying about it.
HAIR – The Vaults ★★★
No ‘turn’ unstoned? The fourteen young performers in Hair certainly give a credible impression of being out of their skulls on psychedelic substances while still managing to deliver some sharply-focused choreography and powerful vocals.
HAIR – The Vaults ★★★★
Transferring down from Manchester’s Hope Mill Theatre, Jonathan O’Boyle’s production of Hair is an exciting revival of a show that was to define so much of the 1960s.

HAIR – The Vaults ★★★★★
Although I’d never seen a production of Hair, many of the songs were familiar to me, and I felt as if I’d almost been born knowing them! BILLIE & ME: PATTI BOULAYE LIVE – Zedel ★★★★
It’s nigh on forty years since this reviewer first clapped eyes on Patti Boulaye. Her braided hair in tight plaits, Boulaye lit up our TV screens on a Saturday evening.

‘Clothing Optional’ at Hair: Do you want to be naked in a theatre?
What a horrifying title but as Hair announces a one off ‘Clothes Optional’ performance on 11 November. Is there anything theatre won’t do to attract new and alternative audiences. I’ve spoke in much detail about nudity on the stage and if any show is going to do nudity then it must be Hair, a show […]
