It may not be the company hitting their absolute heights, but it knows what its audience wants having been versed over the past few years and plays all the hits. Like your favourite festival and a week by the pool, I’d expect it to become a summer institution.
The Wardrobe has done it again. Oedipuss In Boots is the best fun you can have with your clothes on this Christmas season, an adult festive delight that finds the specificity in silliness and comes across like a mix of Monty Python at their zaniest and Trey and Matt Parker at their filthiest.
An hour of quintessential absurdist comedy, made into an experience thanks to terrific music and lighting design – and topped off with brilliantly convincing performances.
This Cherry Orchard is a production that showcases Michael Boyd, his ensemble, Chekhov and Bristol Old Vic at its very best. I love the theatre when it’s this good.
