Well worth the 25 year wait, this was the Moment, not just for Anthony Warlow to actually play Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde on stage, but also for Australia to finally see a professional production of Jekyll and Hyde.
This production asks: “what happens when women take control?” and “how will they take control?”. It’s fun and mysterious and deeply, openly political.
The National Youth Theatre are set to present five plays as part of its ‘East End’ season at the Arcola Theatre, The Yard Theatre and Wilton’s Music Hall.
Split decision: Splendidly sung and with some excellent dancing, this Edinburgh production of Jekyll & Hyde – The Musical is a little deficient in both thrills and laughs.
Looking ahead to this year’s highlights, from Broadway imports and Pulitzer prize winners to Kenneth Branagh and Matthew Warchus’s ongoing seasons.
