Joe McGann will replace Jimmy Nail as Jackie White when Sting’s Broadway musical The Last Ship receives its UK premiere this spring. Further principal casting has also been announced today for the new production, which opens at Northern Stage on 12 March 2018 for four weeks ahead of a major UK and Ireland tour.
Sting’s debut musical The Last Ship will get its UK premiere in the new year, coming “home” to Newcastle in Tyne and Wear, where the story is set.

Wayne’s ‘World’ has been kicking about since the late 1970’s when he wrote this famous prog rock album around the same time Pink Floyd produced Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall and completely laid the genre to rest. He deserves medals, though, for still thrashing through these repetitive strains nightly on the conducting platform like a hunched and superannuated Peter Stringfellow.
All star casting for the world stage premiere of Jeff Wayne’s classic includes Jimmy Nail, Daniel Bedingfield and Sugababe Heidi Range – all making their West End debuts – as well as David Essex, Michael Praed and Madalena Alberto.
