The cast has been announced for Sue Townsend’s The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole aged 13¾ – The Musical which will open at the Ambassadors Theatre for a limited season from 15 June until 12 October 2019, with a gala night on 2 July 2019.
Ruthless? Charging up to over £70 for a show at the Arts. Ruthless? Advertising yourselves as an all-female musical when you’ve a man in the cast. Ruthless? Putting said man above the title because he’s a talent show judge. Ruthless indeed.
Ruthless isn’t a masterpiece, but while I wasn’t the biggest fan, I know others who will lap it up. There’s certainly a market for this over the top, zany, crude show and I can see it doing well.

Against the odds, The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole Aged 13¾ is an energetic, sharp and witty triumph. I say ‘against the odds’ because, in the over-extended franchise Olympics, Adrian Mole would be in a straight fight with Bridget Jones for the right to lose to Harry Potter in the final.
