This year has been a whirlwind year full of amazing theatre. I was lucky enough to see a total of 150 shows so whittling them down to a top 10 was extremely difficult. Although this list is in order, I really loved each of them equally as they all moved me in a particular way and provided some theatrical treats.

‘It’s a blast’: LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS – Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre ★★★★
Meanness and greenness have often gone hand in hand at Regent’s Park – £3.50 for a tiny ice cream cone, really? – but never more so than in Maria Aberg’s confident production of Little Shop of Horrors at the Open Air Theatre.

On the broader theatrical landscape, there are plenty of things opening this month! In London Eugenius! returns to The Other Palace, Milly Thomas’ Dust transfers to Trafalgar Studios 2, and Foxfinder opens at the Ambassadors.

Maria Aberg directs this lively and over-the-top production that fully embraces the madness and quirkiness of the musical.

Though at the moment it looks quiet, I have finally got a draft schedule together for my time in Edinburgh, and it seems as if my plan to ease myself in has just gone out of the window… It’s going to be a hectic week for me up there, but it has to be done!

Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre have today announced casting for Little Shop of Horrors. Directed by Maria Aberg, the production plays 3 August to 15 September 2018, with a press night on 10 August.

The Open Air Theatre has announced the programme for its 2018 summer season, under the continuing artistic directorship of Timothy Sheader. LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS – Edinburgh
There’s bundles of fun and bonkers B-movie mayhem in Little Shop of Horrors, the debut musical from TBC Productions, which is at the Studio on Potterrow to Saturday. Adapted from a Roger Corman movie from the late fifties, Little Shop has a wickedly knowing book and lyrics from Howard Ashman and a solidly rock-driven score from Alan Menken.
