Meanness and greenness have often gone hand in hand at Regent’s Park – £3.50 for a tiny ice cream cone, really? – but never more so than in Maria Aberg’s confident production of Little Shop of Horrors at the Open Air Theatre.
Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre finishes its summer season with an outrageously kitsch and eccentric production of Little Shop of Horrors that will leave you singing its infectious title song all the way home.
This production is big, bold and wonderful. Humour, prime vocals and a crazy story make this the most enjoyable way to spend an evening.
Maria Aberg directs this lively and over-the-top production that fully embraces the madness and quirkiness of the musical.
Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre have today announced casting for Little Shop of Horrors. Directed by Maria Aberg, the production plays 3 August to 15 September 2018, with a press night on 10 August.
“This is not a musical. This is not a concert. This is not a panto, or a play, or anything I can compare it to,” so proclaims Tom Fletcher in the show notes. And he is quite right. While The Christmasaurus Live On Stage has components of all of these, it is – much like the titular only dinosaur in the world – truly unique.
