Music & Lyrics Productions has announced that its touring production of Doctor Dolittle, starring Mark Williams, will close at the end of its run at the New Theatre, Oxford, on Saturday 26 January 2019. It had been planned to tour the UK and Ireland until November 2019. The company has cited lower than anticipated advance ticket sales for the reason to cancel the tour.

Fred Haig must have thought that this was his year after landing starring roles in two of the big musicals of the summer but during Monday evening’s performance, he sustained an injury to his foot which has now been confirmed as a fracture.
This cast launching the tour has had some changes since leaving the Yorkshire Playhouse where the show was resident over Christmas. I believe they have had just three performances together and whilst there were a couple of times that this showed, along with slight technical issues with “Chitty” neither detracted from the enjoyment of the show.
