I previously chose my top ten favourite Broadway leading ladies in musicals; this week it’s the turn of the gents. And the same ground rules apply: they’ve all got to be people who are still regularly active on Broadway, or at least were when the theatres shut down nearly a year ago.

ANGELS IN AMERICA – National Theatre
The show is big. The glossy A4 programme is big, the set is big, the cast names are big and the length is big.
THE ADDAMS FAMILY – Touring
These are the skeletons you want in your closet. In Addams Family Musical, Samantha Womack brings unexpected warmth to Morticia – is that a good thing? – and Cameron Blakeley’s Gomez, Carrie Hope Fletcher’s sensational Wednesday and Les Dennis’s baleful romantic Uncle Fester are all prime turns.
ANGELS IN AMERICA – National Theatre
In the many aspects of Angels in America that there are to enjoy and appreciate, the richness of Tony Kushner’s writing was not one that I was particularly expecting. THE FROGS – Jermyn Street Theatre
Another way of looking at it is that you need to kiss a lot of frogs to find a prince and if this isn’t an outright amphibian, it’s also by no means royalty. Loosely based on a 405 BC play by Aristophanes but sending up Greek comedy at the same, we follow Michael Matus’ Dionysos and his slave Xanthias, played by George Rae, as they journey to Hades.
