The Playhouse Theatre seems to attract a big American star at least once a year; this year it’s the turn of Christian Slater who takes on the lead role in the latest revival of Glengarry Glen Ross, David Mamet’s brutal two-act story of property salesman in 80s America.
Book review: ROYAL CENTRAL – A Collection Of Memories
What first struck me about this book, which has been so thoughtfully compiled by Ian Closier-Hawkins, is just how many individuals he has obtained quotes from, whose names are familiar to me, but who I had not associated with this particular Drama School.
THE DREAMERS – St James Theatre
The Dreamers might have fared better if it hadn’t been billed as a musical. It is hard to find a category for it – part centenary celebration, part video documentary, part community theatre, part contemporary oratorio about British participation in the battle of Gallipoli but since they don’t hand out Off West End awards for Worthiness, it’s not surprising critics dismissed it.
