With The Burnt City, Punchdrunk’s biggest show to date, they take on Greek myth, although the aesthetic is anachronistic: boho chic meets old school Hollywood glamour meets monochrome starkness: there’s not a floaty tunic in sight, although there is a fair bit of blood and gore.

Internationally-acclaimed immersive theatre company Punchdrunk is returning to London for the first time since 2014 with its largest live show to date, The Burnt City, staged in the company’s new home Woolwich Works from 22 March 2022 (the official opening is 21 April). Set across three Grade-II listed buildings, the show tells the story of Greek tragedy The Fall of Troy, transposed to a future parallel world (dates).

Oblivious passers-by sometimes appeared odd and threatening, and I had the near-constant the feeling that we were being watched – which probably we were. At the same time, the hours walking round London following instructions meant sometimes it felt tedious, tiring and cold.
