The characters are instantly familiar: Richard is a bit gauche, a bit geeky, a bit immature; Katie is sassy, strong-minded, but still obsessed with You Know Who, an ex who treated her badly.

Naomi Westerman: How do you write about sex in theatre?
Writing about sex is never easy, staging sex harder still (no pun intended), and I’m not sure if trying to make all this sex comedic makes it better or worse. Sex is inherently funny (and I believe also inherently political).
DIRTY GREAT LOVE STORY – Arts Theatre
OMG! The much-revived hit rom-com show is LOL funny, but also a bit thin content-wise.
FLEABAG – Soho Theatre
Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s television hit returns to the stage, still rocking with laughter and coolness.

DEAD FUNNY – West End
Why is comedy, in the words of the cliché, such a serious business? One reason is that what we laugh at says a lot about who we are as a nation; another is that the simple “joy of laughter” drowns out the anxieties of life’s little, and not so little, agonies.
F**KING MEN – Vaults Theatre
Joe DiPietro’s cult hit is enjoyable enough, but rather predictable in both form and content.
WHERE DO LITTLE BIRDS GO? – Old Red Lion Theatre
New play about a young working-class woman’s experiences in 1960s London is small, but inspirational.
SKIN A CAT -The Bunker Theatre
New short play about sex and shame is partly a campaign tool and partly a plea for openness and understanding.

INTERVIEW: Isley Lynn on Skin a Cat at The Bunker
I’ve always been most interested in telling stories I haven’t heard before. I get so bored and frustrated when I see a show that’s beautifully produced/designed/directed/written/performed but tells me nothing I didn’t already know, or shows me nothing I haven’t seen so many times over.
Edinburgh Fringe: Milk
Everyone has a relationship with food. For some its straightforward, for others it’s complex. Food in terms of nourishment isn’t just that which we eat, either. Love, security, and all sorts of other things make us feel full.
#EdFringe Life: Sex, nudity, JRR Tolkien & Malaysia
Matt, the Monkey Poet, is a massive energy across the international spoken word touring scene, and this year he has programmed 80 shows within the Free Fringe. He has decided to use his Tuesdays as part of his ongoing thinking for a new show for 2017 which may be called Dr Monkey Poet’s Sex Clinic.
Edinburgh Fringe: Torch
We’re in a club toilet. Not a nice one, either – there’s no loo roll, lipstick and graffiti pepper the cubicle walls and door. Jess Mabel Jones is an unnamed woman out with a friend, but after a lot of vodka and some coke, she feels self-conscious, past it and wants to hide.
SCREWED – Theatre 503
New play about the friendship between two young binge-drinking women is full of vigour, but lacks drama.
LOVE, BOMBS & APPLES – Arcola Theatre & touring
Collection of four monologues is free-thinkingly transgressive, politically incorrect and thoroughly delightful.

THE SOLID LIFE OF SUGAR WATER – National Theatre
New play from Jack Thorne about one couple’s tragic loss is both excruciating and oddly uplifting
