It’s heartening to see the fine folk of Capital Theatres involved in such a confident show, it’s just a shame this Sunshine on Leith is more concert than theatre.

I kicked off our fringe experience with Captivate Theatre’s exuberant and joyful Sunshine on Leith. A large company of Edinburgh-based performers and musicians who first presented the show back in 2014.

Though at the moment it looks quiet, I have finally got a draft schedule together for my time in Edinburgh, and it seems as if my plan to ease myself in has just gone out of the window… It’s going to be a hectic week for me up there, but it has to be done!

As ever, if you’re insatiable for new theatre, there are plenty of openings for you. In London, Space Dogs plays a short run at Theatre N16, Laura Linney makes her London stage debut in My Name Is Lucy Barton at the Bridge Theatre.

An exciting couple of months coming up on the Fringe – this month I’m checking out Theatre N16’s new venue for a couple of shows, for one thing, and next month The Bunker Theatre will be a bit of a hotbed for new writing.
