It’s third time lucky for Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre and 101 Dalmatians which is billed as a new musical. Given that it should have premiered two years ago – and then one year ago (thanks, Covid) – that claim is slightly dubious but as it hasn’t actually graced the stage before I guess the assertion still holds.

NEWS: Initial casting is announced for Carousel at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre

Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre has confirmed the initial principal casting for Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Carousel which plays from 31 July to 25 September 2021. Carly Bawden and Declan Bennett play Julie Jordan and Billy Bigelow, John Pfumojena plays Enoch Snow, Olivier Award winner Joanna Riding plays Nettie Fowler and Natasha May Thomas plays Louise Bigelow.

We’ve all got them: things we enjoy — sometimes mightily — that it’s just a little bit embarrassing to admit to liking. Like admitting, in my case, a massive passion for Selling Sunset, the real estate reality TV show set in the cramped offices of an LA boutique agency that sell houses to millionaires and billionaires. Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre has announced its 2020 season which opens with its first newly commissioned musical, 101 Dalmatians (16 May to 21 June 2020, press night is 27 May), based on Dodie Smith’s iconic story set in the heart of Regent’s Park with book by Zinnie Harris and music and lyrics by Douglas Hodge.
