If It Happened in Key West had been treated more like a gothic musical (which quite a few of the songs hinted at) about grief, love and loss it would have been stronger. But as it is by adding a quirky sense of humour to it makes it seem as though it is trivialising the serious issues that the true story contains.

Alyssa Martin will star opposite Broadway’s Wade McCollum in the world premiere of American musical comedy It Happened in Key West, coming to London’s Charing Cross Theatre for a seven-week season from 4 July to 18 August 2018, with a press night on 10 July and a post-show Q&A chaired by Mates co-founder Terri Paddock on 11 July.
